About me…

I’m a nice guy who loves all things IT. True story.

I completed my Degree in Software Engineering at Nottingham Trent University in 2003. Despite my degree being software based my passion was always hardware and systems. Upon leaving university I was employed by iMeta Technologies as a software developer also responsible for the IT systems. Within 6 months the company had grown and I moved into the Systems Administrator role full time.

In the 6 years since then I have built the IT Systems from the ground up and gained many qualifications including MCP, MCSA, MCSE, MCSE:Messaging, MCSE:Security, MCITP:Enterprise Administrator 2008 and more.

My speciality would most likely be Virtualisation and I have been using it in production to squeeze every last ounce of power from limited hardware  resources since the original VirtualServer2005 Alpha builds back in 2004. These days my production and development VM environments include live migration HyperV 2008 R2 and ESX 3.5 clusters with Fibre Channel and iSCSI SANs.

However due to my wide experience of designing and implementing the entire infrastructure I have a good an excellent all round knowledge; everything from Exchange and SQL clustering, Active Directory over multiple countries, TFS Source Control, SharePoint – right down to the physical networking of offices.

My passion is understanding future technologies and using them to keep the business environments ahead of the curve. As a result of this I have organised and managed iMeta’s participation in a number of Microsoft TAP programmes – including HyperV at PV level, one of only 20 companies worldwide.

Outside of my professional environment I am a member of many beta programs and other special NDA projects. I am also an avid gamer and have helped organise quarterly LAN parties since 2003. I enjoy keeping fit and destroying people on the squash court. In fact I remain unbeaten in 6.5 years of play at iMeta. Despite knowing I used to play in the Dorset County Leagues, many have been confident over the years – but none have succeeded. Some have smashed their Rackets in frustration though! (Yes I’m talking about you Matt – Ha!)
